Photos by Sammy Polinsky, Words by Molly Gorelick
Sammy Polinsky carries a camera everywhere. I know this because she is one of my closest friends and during the school year we spend almost every waking moment together. Many of these photos are from school in rural Pennsylvania, although some are from the beginning of the summer in Connecticut.
Although I think that Sammy’s photographs are art, that’s not necessarily the purpose behind her photos. I love Sammy’s photography because it’s just her trying to capture moments that she’s seeing so that she can have them forever. She’s not trying to do anything else except document her life for herself and her friends. Every time she gets new photos developed she puts them in an album and whenever someone comes to her dorm room for the first time, she shows them her new pictures, and it’s beautiful because it’s like “Hey, if you want to see what my life is, then keep flipping the pages.”
Sammy Polinsky is a student at Dickinson College. She is an avid user of gel pens.
